Voices of Support Toolkit
Lennon House receives many inquiries from concerned family members whose loved ones are experiencing struggles with addiction. The idea to create a valuable resource for families and loved ones was born from a place of genuine support and care. We see you and you are not alone.
Created by Your Life Design Inc, the Voices of Support Toolkit is designed for families and caregivers supporting someone with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). It provides essential information, practical strategies, and reflective activities to help you navigate the challenges of addiction with knowledge, compassion, and confidence.
While your loved one works on their recovery, your role as a family member or caregiver is equally important. The Voices of Support Toolkit recognizes that your journey matters too. It will help you build confidence, protect your own well-being, and offer meaningful support to your loved one.
This project is generously funded by the Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island and the PEI Liquor Control Commission.
While this toolkit focuses on alcohol use, some information and strategies may also apply to other addictions and addictive behaviours. Alcohol is often considered a gateway substance, meaning its misuse can increase the risk of experimenting with or developing dependence on other drugs or behaviours. By understanding the principles of stigma reduction, empathetic communication, and boundary setting, families and caregivers can use these tools to support loved ones facing a range of substance-related challenges.
